Professionally met him after a recommendation from a close friend and their parents –both of which Mason represented (one as the seller and one the buyer). We were difficult customers, didn’t really know what we wanted, but wanting something very specific at the same time. And a package that was rare in the valley. Mason helped us for maybe 8 months, with multiple offers (and accepted offers) that fell through. He was patient, professional, highly experienced, and the most knowledgeable (in home construction and in the market) I’ve met in his profession. Not once in 8 months did he waver from his honest opinions, and we felt zero pressure from him to commit regardless of how much we wasted his time. He brings a lovely mixture of letting you develop your own opinions, and his own input –frequently filling in things we didn’t think about, and potential future challenges, specifically in rural living. He was understanding of our sometimes unrealistic expectations. Honestly I thought he might fire us many times, but he kept showing up on Sundays, kept contributing, late night calls, nose to the ground working on our behalf, answering questions and more questions. To top that off, a week after closing, we get an email asking what charity we would like to donate to, money taken from his own split commission (a significant amount, not a meaningless gesture). This guy is quite something. At the end of the experience, I would have happily paid Mason’s commission AS A BUYER, he was totally invaluable in getting us what we wanted in the housing market and in the Comox Valley. And that says everything in my eyes. He’s the only realtor I would recommend to anyone, selling or buying, low or high end.
